NATCHEZ — National Signing Day is here and excitement abounds for those high school football seniors who will be putting pen to paper and letting everyone in the college football landscape know which two-year or four-year college or university they will be going to and playing for.

The Miss-Lou has over the years been a hotbed for college football coaches seeking the right players to join their program and eventually play for conference and even national championship teams.

Today, the 2018 MAIS Class AAA state champion Adams County Christian School Rebels will have a few players signing today, head coach David King said. Kemari Clark and Jakarius Caston, and maybe a third player, will be signing today at 9:50 a.m. at the school library.

King said on Tuesday afternoon that he does not know which school either of them will be going to because they each have multiple offers to choose from.

Despite not making the MHSAA Class 5A Playoffs last season, Natchez High School will have at least a couple of players signing today. Head coach Roy Rigsby said that Jamel Myles and E’Daniel Jones, and perhaps a couple of more seniors, will be putting their name on the dotted line at the school auditorium at 1:30 p.m.

Rigsby said that he does not know which school Myles will choose and that he would not say who Jones will sign with. Also of note, Ryon “Champ” Rigsby signed with Jones County Junior College during the early signing day period back in December.

Coming off an appearance in the LHSAA Class 2A state semifinals, Ferriday High School head coach Stanley Smith said two senior Trojans, Larry Scott and Derrick Sheppard, would be signing today at 10 a.m. at the school library.

Delta Charter School head coach Blake Wheeler said that seniors Trey Poole and Freddie Mango will not be signing today, as they are in Wisconsin — at least that’s where they were as of late Tuesday afternoon — on a college visit.

Cathedral High School head coach Chuck Darbonne said that no seniors on the 2018 Green Wave squad would be signing today.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is Vidalia High School. Even though the Vikings advanced to the LHSAA Class 2A quarterfinals, head coach Dee Faircloth said that none of the seniors on his team would be signing today.
