GLOSTER — Services for Joseph E. “Blue” Foreman, 93, of Gloster, who passed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Royal Chapel Church in Gloster.
Burial with military honors will follow in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Mr. Foreman was born March 11, 1925 in Franklin County, the third of eight children of Henry Burley Foreman and Trudy Bass Foreman.
He grew up in the Homochitto area and attended school there. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War ll, seeing action in five major battles including Utah Beach on D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Foreman was married for 68 years to his loving wife Mary Agnes Brown Foreman.
Blue and Mary Agnes made their home for many years in Hull, Texas, where they raised their children, and he served his community as a member of the school board, Lions Club, Hull Masonic Lodge and as a Cub Scout leader.
After his retirement from Entergy of Texas, he and Mary Agnes returned to the Homochitto Community where they spent many happy years.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and cutting lumber with his portable sawmill.
Blue mostly enjoyed sitting on his front porch, having a cup of coffee with family and friends sharing the stories of his past. He was loved and admired by his family and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Foreman is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter Clarise Workman, granddaughter Stacy Workman, three sisters, Bonnelle Bohall, Nadine Arnold and Betty Rose Campbell, and two brothers, Bryant Foreman and Bennis Foreman.
Survivors include his son Dale Foreman and wife Melanie, of Huffman, Texas; daughters Jody Etheridge and husband, Tommy, of Gloster, and Crystal Ford and husband, Warren, of Hull, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; brother Billy Foreman of Gloster, and sister Mary Nell Borel of Meadville.
