Walter Alexander Doughty III

NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Walter Alexander “Walt” Doughty III, 55, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Natchez City Cemetery with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Doughty was born June 23, 1963, at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital in Natchez, the son of Walter A. Doughty Jr. and Lynda Hobdy Doughty.

He attended Natchez public schools and was a member of St. Mary Basilica.

Walt worked for a number of years as an over-the-road truck driver and also as a tour bus driver for Natchez Pilgrimage Tours.  He loved the tourist industry and Natchez history and enjoyed regaling the tourists with tales about Natchez and its past.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Braxton T. Hobdy Sr. and Claudia Hobdy, Walter Doughty Sr. and Golden Doughty and Lamar and Julia Spencer; one aunt, Carmen Doughty Pressgrove; two cousins, Valerie Givens and Dawn Perry; and one uncle, Jerry Hawthorne.

Survivors include his mother of Natchez; one brother, Michael Darin Doughty and wife, Shannon, and their children, Eric and Mollie Ann of Gulfport; one nephew, Austin Alexander Doughty; uncles and aunts, Braxton and Carol Hobdy of Natchez and Greg and Dora Hobdy of Hattiesburg; cousins, Tate Hobdy and wife, Abby, and their son, Tristan, all of Natchez and Patrick Ingram and wife, Tara, and their children, Riley and Ryker of Florida.  He is deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
