Green Wave drops double header to Central Private

NATCHEZ — The Central Private Rebels hit the ball hard all game long in the first game of a double header against Cathedral at Chester Willis Field yesterday. They won the game 18-0.

Central Private of Central, Louisiana, in East Baton Rouge, are in the same district as the Green Wave, which means these two teams will meet again.

The ball game was close in the early innings, with the Rebels only leading 3-0 after three.

The Rebel batters however, turned into big time hitters in the fourth and fifth innings. Hitter after hitter; they got solid hits to all area’s of the ball park.

Landon Lees started the game for Cathedral and threw real good pitches exactly where he wanted them, but the Central hitters were just in the groove, with six starting seniors.

For Central Private, Adam Stendle went 2 for 2 and scored twice. Peyton Toural went 3 for 4 and scored three runs. Gabe Spedale went 2 for 2 and scored three runs.

For Cathedral, Landon Lees pitched three innings and five batters into the fourth, he was relieved by Hollis Lees who threw one inning.  Other Green Wave pitchers who got some work in were Jake Hairston and Will Mabry.

The winning pitcher was Gabe Spedale, while the loss goes to Landon Lees.

Game 2

In the second game of the double header, Cathedral couldn’t match up against Central Private again.

The Rebels would win this one 15-1.

Sam Mosby got the start for the Green Wave and went three innings.

Mosby gave up five hits with two walks and two strikeouts. He got relief from Conner Murray and Ben Foster, who pitched an inning apiece but neither could stop the bats or the scoring of Central Private.

For Central Private at the plate Mike Friedman led the team going 4 for 4 with a triple, a double and two singles. Kaleb Fontenot had a double and a single and went 2 for 3.

For Cathedral Sam Mosby and Conner Murray had the only two singles of the game for the Green Wave.

The winning pitcher was Colton Huff while Mosby took the loss.
