The Green Wave were down 2-0 when they came to the plate in the first inning. A single by Ben White and Noah Russ along with two walks and a wild pitch put the Green Wave up 3-2.

In the bottom of the third inning Cathedral used three walks to put runners on base. Russ had another single and Ben Foster had a double that drove in two runs.

Cathedral was able to manufacture four runs to lead the game after three innings, 7-2.

Lees pitched four plus innings and left the game with the lead. Mason Moore, an eighth grader, came in to get some work for head coach Craig Beesley, then the senior Conner Murray came in with no outs to try and hold Porters Chapel. Murray struck out his last two to limit the Eagles rally as they left two men on base.

The damage was done however; the Eagles had fought back to tie the game at seven runs apiece.

The game was still tied going into the Green Wave bottom of the sixth when they took the opportunity to put the game away. They sent 13 batters up to the plate, scored seven runs on four hits and six walks.

Senior Murray made fast work of the Eagles lineup in the top of the seventh to end the game and he gets the win for Cathedral. Porters Chapel used pitchers Cole Pittman to start, Michael Tod Andrews and Josh Hunt. Hunt gets tagged with the loss.

“We didn’t throw enough strikes, we battled back to tie it but that was it.” Eagles head coach Wade Patrick said.

“For Landon Lees that’s the longest he’s gone all year, Zeke Flatman catching, had a big hit in the bottom of the sixth to put us up and Conner did a good job of coming in and saving us.” Beesley said.
