Nothing is more American than a great Fourth of July fireworks show, and the Miss-Lou has been fortunate over the years to enjoy a fantastic fireworks show over the Mississippi River.

Those shows are enjoyable, thrilling and fun. They make us proud to be Americans and help us celebrate the many freedoms we enjoy as citizens of the greatest nation on Earth.

The fireworks show also are expensive, however, costing approximately $1,000 per minute.

That’s where the Vidalia Beautification Committee comes in.

Each year, the beautification committee raises the funds, organizes, plans and helps execute the event that so many Miss-Lou residents enjoy watching each Fourth of July.

This year the group hopes to produce a 15-to-20-minute show, organizers said, and they are in the process of raising the funds to finance it.

We encourage businesses that are able to pitch in for the cause.

The Fourth of July fireworks shows not only are fun patriotic events, they also are a tourism draw that makes the Miss-Lou a desirable Fourth of July location for travelers.
