MEADVILLE— Services for Wilda McGehee Temple, 74, of Brandon, formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, in Brandon, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Meadville with the Rev. David Perry officiating.
Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Temple was born Aug. 30, 1944, the daughter of Alvie Elmo and Lourine Cowart McGehee.
She was a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School and a 1965 graduate of St. Dominic’s School of Nursing in Jackson. Her nursing career spanned nearly 34 years at Merit Health Natchez, serving as supervisor of surgery, PACU and endoscopy.
She retired in 1998 to become a full-time grandmother and caregiver to family and friends in need. She was always available for advice, transportation to doctor visits, to cook a meal or just to be a caring listener on the phone. She remained active in her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Natchez, the annual Meadville School reunion, her local retired nurses’ group and with her nursing school classmates, all whom she considered among her closest friends.
Temple was preceded in death her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Albert Riley Temple; one daughter, Renee Temple Rollins and husband, Kip, of Brandon; the true blessings of her life, two granddaughters, Allyn Elizabeth and Sarah Carson Rollins; two sisters, Joyce Williams and husband, Ron, of Atlanta, and Margy Rushing of Meadville; one brother, Ward McGehee and wife, Jean, of Meadville; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Rushing, Mike Childs, Keith McGehee, Darby Chiasson, Chris Suire and Pollard Cowart.
