Mrs. Britt was born July 22, 1937, in Natchez, the daughter of Roy Howard Tarver and Mary Louise McCaleb Tarver.

She was a graduate of Natchez-Adams High School and was extremely good at typing and shorthand, which garnered her a job with Attorney Frank Walden. She loved her job and over the years, worked for Sears, United Insurance and Natchez-Adams School district as a bus driver. Her last job was working for Attorney Danny O’Beirne. She loved people and her jobs were good fits for her. She never turned anyone away if they needed help. She was very kind and loving to all who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was a member of the DAR, Scottish Heritage Society and Colonial Dames. She loved her church family and was the church secretary for Cloverdale Baptist Church and Highland Baptist Church, where she was a member for a number of years. She taught Sunday school and Mission Friends, sang in the choir, helped with vacation Bible school and was involved in a number of church events. She was a faithful and true servant to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And though she was in a wheelchair for a number of years, she was not handicapped by it. She still remained faithful to the end. She suffered a stroke while at Wednesday night prayer service.

Britt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Britt; two sons, Terry L. Britt and Andrew D. Britt; and two brothers, Benjamin Tarver and George D. Tarver.
