FERRIDAY— Services for Lawrence Martin Jr., 69, of Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Bishop Robert Cade III officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at St. James Baptist Church located on Skipper Drive in Ferriday.
Mr. Martin was born in Ferriday, the son of Lawrence and Ethel “Kitty” Henderson Martin.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning two Bronze Medals.
Survivors include his wife, Sherria Lloyd Martin; three sons, Lawrence Gardner and wife, Angela V. Johnson, of Ferriday, Keith Whitley of Houston and Cedric Webb of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Dimetra Foster and Jokora Davis and husband, Maurice, all of Monroe, Louisiana; four brothers, Billy Ray Martin and wife, Karen, of Houston, Lee Andrew Martin and wife, Juanita, Joseph Martin and Eddie Lee Martin and wife, Joyce, all of Ferriday; three sisters, Patricia Martin Williams and husband, Elmore, of Ferriday, Gladys McCray and husband, Joe, and Annie Palms, all of Houston; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
