Drive-by shooting charges filed

NATCHEZ — A Natchez man faces charges of drive-by shooting, possession of a stolen firearm and simple possession of marijuana following a Sunday incident on Old Washington Road, police officials said.
On Sunday, a Natchez resident called the Natchez Police Department and reported that he was shot at several times by a person driving a tan Oldsmobile Alero.
The victim said he believed the shooter to be a person he knows only as Darnell, said Walter Armstrong Natchez police chief and later identified the victim identified the suspect as Darnell Houseworth, 29, from a police lineup.
“An affidavit was obtained on Darnell Houseworth for drive-by shooting,” Armstrong said. “Houseworth’s vehicle was located on Monday outside of a residence at 202 George F. West Blvd. Officers made contact with the homeowner who gave consent to look for Houseworth where he was taken into custody.”
Armstrong said Houseworth was found to be in possession of two weapons, one of which was listed as stolen, and a small amount of marijuana.
Houseworth was booked into the Natchez Police Department Jail on charges of drive-by shooting, possession of a stolen firearm and simple possession of marijuana, Armstrong said.
