NATCHEZ — A former Monterey teacher was recently fined for prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student.

Earlier this week, Morgan White Boyd, 32, of 7718 Louisiana 129 in Monterey was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended upon payment of $750 with one year of probation, for prohibited sexual conduct with a student, Concordia Parish booking records state.

Recorded minutes of the Concordia Parish School Board stated Boyd resigned as a teacher at Monterey High School effective Jan. 18.

Around that time, Assistant District Attorney Austin Lipsey said the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations responded to allegations that explicit pictures were sent electronically by Boyd to a student. However, no evidence of that allegation had been recovered, Lipsey said.

Soon after, Lipsey said the DA’s office received additional information and led another investigation, during which a Monterey High School student stated he had sexual intercourse with Boyd and was 18 years old at the time.

“Because the student was 18, it was actually a misdemeanor charge punishable with up to $1,000 fine,” Lipsey said.

Lipsey said Seventh Judicial District Court Judge John Reeves issued a fine of $750 and one year of probation.
