Prep football round up: Jackson Prep rolls past ACCS

JACKSON — Matt Jones had 15 carries for 159 yards and two touchdowns as the Jackson Preparatory School Patriots defeated the Adams County Christian School Rebels 37-0 Friday night.
Louie Gatlin made field goals of 31 and 51 yards and Jeffery Ince scored on a 57-yard punt return for Jackson Prep, ranked No. 3 in the latest Mississippi Associated Press private school poll.
ACCS, on the other hand, could not get anything going offensively. The Rebels were held to 103 yards of total offense and six first downs. D.J. Stampley had five carries for 25 yards and Cory Sewell had eight carries for 21 yards. Defensively, Yohan Thompson had 6 tackles and one interception.
ACCS (3-1) plays at Copiah Academy Friday at 7 p.m. in its MAIS District 3-5A opener.
Vidalia 52, Block 6
JONESVILLE — The Vidalia High School Vikings dominated the first half and cruised to a 52-6 win over the Block High School Bears Friday night.
Vidalia redeemed itself after a tough road loss to Sicily Island High School last week by taking care of a good Block team. The Vikings led 16-0 after one quarter of play and by halftime they had a commanding 37-0 lead over the Bears. Block didn’t score until the fourth quarter.
Vidalia (1-1) hosts LHSAA Class 5A West Ouachita High School Friday at 7 p.m. Block (1-1) hosts Grant High School at 7 p.m. Friday.
Peabody 54, Delta Charter 26
FERRIDAY — The Peabody High School Warhorses scored 28 points in the second quarter and went on to defeat the Delta Charter School Storm 54-26 Friday night. No other information on the game was available.
Delta Charter (0-2) plays at Jonesboro-Hodge High School Friday at 7 p.m.

Forest Hill 20
FAYETTE — Jaheime Herrington had 20 carries for 137 yards and two key fourth-quarter touchdowns as the Jefferson County High School Tigers defeated the Forest Hill High School Patriots 28-20 Friday night.
Jefferson County racked up 263 yards on the ground. Marques Smith was 8-for-13 passing for 99 yards and their defense forced three turnovers.
Jefferson County (2-2) hosts Mendenhall High School Friday at 7 p.m.

TYLERTOWN — The Tylertown High School Chiefs took care of the Wilkinson County High School Wildcats 47-0 Friday night. No other information on the game was available.

Brookhaven Academy 24, Centreville Academy 20
CENTREVILLE — The Brookhaven Academy Cougars scored a touchdown with 2:34 remaining in the fourth quarter to rally for a 24-20 win over the Centreville Academy Tigers Friday night.
Centreville Academy (1-3) plays at Amite School Center Friday at 7 p.m. in its MAIS District 3-3A opener.

SICILY ISLAND — The Sicily Island High School Tigers held on for a 24-19 win over the LaSalle High School Tigers Friday night.
Sicily Island (2-0) hosts Class 2A No. 10 Ferriday High School Friday at 7 p.m.
Wesson 29, Franklin County 6
WESSON — In a battle of winless teams Friday night, the Wesson High School Cobras defeated the Franklin County High School Bulldogs 29-6 Friday night.
Franklin County (0-4) travels to Liberty to take on Amite County High School Friday at 7 p.m.
