NATCHEZ — A Natchez man is back in the Adams County Jail on a charge of murder in connection to the September 2018 shooting death of a man at the Holiday Apartments.
Darnell D. Stevenson, 21, was arrested Jan. 31 on charges of murder, four counts of aggravated assault, drive by shooting, shooting into a vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling and felony malicious mischief.
The charges stem from Sept. 22, 2018, when a series of shootings occurred at several locations throughout Natchez, including a shooting that killed Lewis Jackson III, 25, as he stood outside of Holiday Apartments, officials said.
Stevenson was on probation at the time of his Jan. 31 arrest after having pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit armed robbery on Aug. 3, 2017, for his part in a 2015 crime that killed a man and injured a pregnant woman in Adams County.
With his arrest in Jan. 31, Stevenson’s parole was violated, and he was sent back to finish his time in Parchman, said Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong, which Stevenson completed and is now back in custody in Adams County to face the charges incurred in January.
