David Hedrick apparent winner of Concordia Parish Sheriff’s race

VIDALIA — With 20 of 20 Concordia Parish precincts reporting and 100% of absentee ballots counted, independent candidate David Hedrick appears to be the next Concordia Parish Sheriff, according to unofficial primary election results.
In Louisiana’s open primaries, held Saturday, a candidate wins with a 50% plus one majority, and Hedrick garnered 3,451, or 52% of the vote, to his closest challenger Democrat Robert “Rock” Davis’ 1,548, or 23% of the vote.
Other sheriff’s candidates, Denis Mulvihill, no party, got 1,532 votes, or 23% of the vote, and Fred W. Taylor III, no party, got 95 votes, or 1% of the vote.
The other outright winner on the night is Veller Ray Carroll, no party, who won the Mayor of Ridgecrest race with 85 votes, or 53% of the vote, to independent candidate “Connie” Adair’s 75 votes, or 47% of the vote.
Races that are headed to the Nov. 16 general election:
Clerk of Court
Democrat “Andy” Anders, who garnered 3,221 votes, or 50% of the vote, will face Independent candidate Phillip Webber, who got 2,053 votes, or 32% of the vote.
Police Juror District 1, Place A
Democrat Carey H. Cook, who got 614 votes, or 47% of the vote, and Independent candidate Maurice Bachus Sr., who got 419 votes, or 32% of the vote.
Police Juror District 2
Democrat Willie J Dunbar, who got 167 votes, or 28% of the vote, will face Democrat Willie “Bill” Yearby, who got 132 votes, or 22% of the vote.
Police Juror District 3, Place B
Cornell Lewis, no party, who got 479 votes, or 31% of the vote, will face Republican candidate Allen “Scottie” Whittington, who got 470 votes, or 30% of the vote.
Police Juror District 4, Place A
Republican candidate Curtis “Wrecker” Nelson, who got 390 votes, or 31% of the vote, will face Democratic candidate Genesia S. Allen, who got 344 votes, or 27% of the vote.
Police Juror District 4, Place B
Democratic candidate Lana Hawkins, who got 429 votes, or 37% of the vote, will face Republican candidate Gary Wayne Neal, who got 386 votes, or 33% of the vote.
Police Juror District 5A
Independent candidate Collin Edwards, who got 299 votes, or 38% of the vote, will face Democratic candidate “Jimmy” Jernigan, who got 233 votes, or 30% of the vote.
Police Juror District 5B
Republican candidate “Brad” Adams, who got 405 votes, or 40% of the vote, will face Darrell Brigman, no party, who got 225 votes, or 22% of the vote, and possibly Republican candidate Morris M. Willson, who got 224 votes or 22% of the vote.
