WOODVILLE— Services for Jennie McCraine Netterville, 53, of Woodville, died Thursday evening, Oct. 10, 2019, in Centreville, after a long illness, will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Corinth Church of Christ, 1409 Buffalo Road in Woodville.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.
Jennie was born Aug. 30, 1966, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Fredrick H. Netterville and Tommie Jo Netterville.
She was a graduate of Wilkinson County Christian Academy and the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her master of education degree from William Carey College.
An accomplished, trained vocalist, she toured Europe twice as a member of the USM Chorale. She often sang at her church and at special occasions by request.
Jennie had a special gift with the youth and teaching was her calling. She taught English on high school and college levels and served as headmistress for a time at Pine Hills Academy in Gloster. She was a tutor and mentor to many of her former students.
Jennie was very involved in her community and her church, Corinth Church of Christ. She was a member of the Junior Irwin Russell Club, a patron of WCCA, and a founding board member of BACK: Bennett’s Acts of Christian Kindness. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She loved her family, friends, and all animals, especially her precious dog, Maggie.
Jennie was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her stepfather, Samuel Blackmon; one sister, Claudia Netterville Estes and husband, Ken; two brothers, Charles Thomas Netterville and wife, Jan, and Wilson Howard Netterville and wife, Allison; nine nieces and nephews, Mathew Thomas Netterville and wife, Lindsey, Charles Seth Netterville and wife, Leighton, Lil Netterville Tanner and husband, Wayne, Mary Claire Netterville Whetstone and husband, Hayden, Dr. Christopher Carter Barnett and wife, Jackie, Ann Fairly Barnett, Tommie Jo Netterville Barnett, Margaret Alexandra Netterville and Fredrick Harold Netterville III; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Netterville, Seth Netterville, Carter Barnett, Fred Netterville, Hayden Whetstone, Wayne Tanner and Winn Netterville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to BACK: Bennett’s Acts of Christian Kindness or to a charity of choice.
