Natchez – Harrell J. Cothern passed away at the age of 86 on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020. Harrell was born Sept. 01, 1933, in Bogalusa, the son of Porter and Rosa Beard Cothern. He resided in Natchez for over 60 years.

Harrell loved being outdoors, spending time at the hunting camp, and deer hunting with his son, grandson, and friends. He enjoyed helping others and serving in the community as an active Shriner and member of the Masonic Lodge. Harrell held multiple leadership positions within the lodge and other organizations, including President of the Natchez Shrine Club. He worked for Armstrong Tire and Rubber, Fidelity Tire Company and was the owner of Harrell’s Air Conditioning/Heating and Electrical Work.

Mr. Cothern was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Rosa Cothern; five brothers, Ward Cothern, Walter Cothern, Sonny Cothern, Billy Cothern, and Doy Cothern; three sisters, Era Creel, Vera Galloway, and Nora Lee Cates.

Survivors include his son, Robert Cothern and wife, Lisa of Hattiesburg; grandchildren Kristin Ferrell and husband, Logan of Ridgeland, Megan Cothern and Clayton Cothern of Hattiesburg; and one sister, Irene Wilson of Kingswood, TX.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, at Laird Funeral Home.

Following the visitation, graveside service will be held will be at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Cothern, Logan Ferrell, and members of the Masonic Lodge.
