Concordia Parish School Board votes to increase its pay

VIDALIA — Concordia Parish School Board members voted to increase their pay by $150 per month during their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday.

District 3B Board Member Lisette Forman made the motion to raise board members’ compensation from $650 per month to $800 per month during a Thursday’ meeting of the Concordia Parish School Board.

The School Board President Fred Butcher’s pay would increase to $850 per month, Superintendent Whest Shirley said.

Shirley said two public notices about the pay increase were published in consecutive weeks regarding the motion being presented at Thursday’s meeting and the motion passed by 7-2.

District 5B board member John Bostic and District 3A board member Ricky Raven both voted “no.”

Butcher was elected the board president and replaced former president and District 2 board member Raymond Riley last month.
