NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Katie Johnson Moore, 74, of Natchez, who died on Friday, March 20, 2020, in Natchez will be on Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithdale, Mississippi with Pastor Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Katie was born Feb. 6, 1946, in Natchez, the daughter of Floyd Johnson and Edna Johnson. She received her bachelor’s degree from Alcorn State University and was employed with Concordia Educational Center. Katie was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she served as choir president. She also held memberships with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Order of Eastern Stars. Her hobbies included singing, public speaking, traveling and shopping.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver Moore; brother, Floyd Johnson, Jr.

Katie leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Embrick Johnson and wife Diane, Oliver S. Moore and Sheldon Moore; grandchildren, Floyd Johnson, Sidney Johnson, Tylon Moore, Christian Latroy Moore and other relatives and friends.

A “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be announced at a later date.
