Saturday update: Wilkinson County COVID-19 cases up; Mississippi cases up to 663

Wilkinson County continues to see an uptick in confirmed cases of COVID-19. The Mississippi State Department of Health reported on Saturday an additional 2 confirmed cases of the virus in Wilkinson County raising the total number of cases to 11.

With a population of less than 9,000 people, Wilkinson County continues to lead the state with the highest number of infections per capita with a 12.75 rate of confirmed case per 10,000 people.

Adams County did not see an increase in cases reported Saturday. The current number of cases in Adams County is 6.

The total number of Mississippi cases reported Saturday morning is 663 — up 84 cases from Friday.

Deaths from the virus also increased in the state from 8 reported Friday to 13 on Saturday. MSDH reports that all of the deaths reported in the state were 60-years-old or older.
