NATCHEZ — Having a lengthy line of vehicles in the drive-thru has become a common occurrence at the Walgreens store and pharmacy at 49 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive.

Store officials said Tuesday that Walgreens has begun to sell commonly used household items as well as prescriptions at the drive-thru window so that their customers and employees can potentially reduce their exposure to COVID-19.

“To help support patients and customers and promote social distancing, we are offering purchase of select household essential items at the pharmacy drive-thru. Customers may experience wait times,” said Rebekah Pajak, senior manager of Walgreens’ Pharmacy and Operations Communications.

In addition to the new service, Walgreens has reduced its hours, which are now 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and closed completely on weekends, which could potentially increase traffic at the store during open hours.
