Concordia update: Parish officials report nine additional cases of COVID-19

The Concordia Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness reported nine new cases of COVID-19 Friday.

OEP Director Timothy Vanier said the parish has reported 27 total cases as of Friday morning. The parish has also reported 1 death, Vanier said.

Of the 27 cases in the parish, Vanier said 85% of the patients (27 cases) are African American. The remaining cases (4 cases) are Caucasian, Vanier said.

The nine cases reported Friday morning are:

  • 45-year-old black female
  • 68 year old black female
  • 43 year old black female
  • 65 year old black female
  • 69 year old black male
  • 27 year old white female
  • 39 year old black female
  • 44 year old black male
  • 66 year old black female

On Friday, the Louisiana Department of Health reported 16 presumed positive cases of COVID-19 in Concordia Parish and 18 cases in Catahoula Parish.

Vanier said the parish OEP has the most up-to-date number of confirmed cases on record that are verified by his office with local hospitals and clinics.
