NATCHEZ — Another resident of a nursing home in Adams County died with the COVID-19 virus Friday morning.
Adams County Coroner James Lee said a 71-year-old white female was transported from an undisclosed nursing home location to Merit Health Natchez where she was pronounced dead on Friday morning.
On Thursday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported five COVID-19-related deaths among residents of long-term care facilities in Adams County in addition to the woman who died Friday morning.
State officials declined to provide any identifying information pertaining to COVID-19 patients beyond what is stated on the website msdh.ms.gov, including the names of long-term care facilities with confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks and deaths.
“God bless this family,” Lee said of the patients’ family who died Friday. “I would like to encourage everyone to continue social distancing. Be smart. Please follow CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines. This virus is a novel virus and therefore there are still many unknowns.”
