FERRIDAY — The Ferriday Police Department is investigating two shootings that have occurred here over the weekend, one of which injured a man in the leg.

Officers responded to a call about the first shooting at approximately 6 p.m. Friday at Concordia Apartments, 200 Kyle Road, said Stephen Lipscomb, investigator with the Ferriday Police Department.

Lipscomb said officers met two juvenile victims who stated they had been in an altercation with two adult suspects and one had produced a firearm and shot at them.

No one was hit and a warrant has been issued for the suspected shooter whose name has not been released, Lipscomb said.

Ferriday police also responded to a call about a gunshot victim at Riverland Medical Center at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Lipscomb said.

Lipscomb said the victim, a 27-year-old black male, was struck in the leg and sustained a non-life-threatening injury after being shot while in the 200 block of Georgia Avenue in Ferriday.

The incident is still under investigation, Lipscomb said, adding it is unclear whether the two shootings are related.
