FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Richard Harry White, 86, of Ferriday, LA will be held Friday, June 12, 2020 at Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church in Ferriday, LA at 10:30 am. Services will be officiated by Rev. Stewart Sherman. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 until 10:30. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez, MS, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Richard White was born on December 4, 1933 in Kingston, MS and passed away peacefully June 10, 2020. Mr. White graduated from Sicily Island High School in 1951 with honors. He played on the first football team Sicily Island High School formed, under Mr. Raymond Peace.

Richard was a lifelong fan of football. He was drafted and served in the Army from 1955-1957 in Germany. His working career spanned many years which included owning a service station, restaurant and lastly a shop servicing exhaust systems. He could repair most anything.

Richard was a devout and faithful member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church serving on the Administrative Board, PPR Committee and Church School Teacher. He loved reading his Bible.

His greatest pleasure in life was following his daughter Rachel’s sporting events and later those of his grandchildren Austin and Kristen. He was passionate about Stonewall Jackson along with his love of religious and country music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. White Jr.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. White, Sr. of Sicily Island, LA and Dr. and Mrs. Oscar J. Seyfarth of Natchez, MS; siblings, David Coleman White, Sheila Katherine White, Annette Marie Williams and Joe E. White.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Charlotte White of Ferriday, LA; daughter, Rachel White Griffing and husband Richard; grandson, Austin Lipsey and wife Morgan, granddaughter- Kristen Lipsey Trant and husband Tyler; great grandchildren, Rhett Chandler, Mabry Layne Trant, Ridge Lipsey, and Rosey Marie Trant; sister, Carol Dunning and husband Tommy of Tallulah, LA; brother, Claude Earl White and wife Linda of Rhode Island; and his special dog, Rex.

Pallbearers will be Junior Lewis, Tyler Trant, Richard Griffing, Austin Lipsey, Tommy Ellett, and Ricky Long.

Honorary pallbearers are Billy Rucker, Larry Chauvin, Butch Bateman, and Benny Ray McHaffrey.
