NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Bessie Lee Good Gaines, 65, of Natchez, MS, who passed away in Jackson on June 16, 2020, will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Hickory Block UMC Cemetery in Union Church, MS, at 12 p.m. with burial immediately following officiated by Pastor Johnny Irving under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Walk-through-only visitation services will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursday, June 25, from 11 a.m. until service time at the cemetery.
Bessie was born on January 22, 1955, in Jefferson County, MS, to Edward and L.T. Good.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Mary Fleming; special cousin, Brenda Kay Good.
Bessie leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband, Wardell “Rick” Gaines; two daughters, Nedra (Doug) Thornburg and Kim (Roy) Thornburg both of Natchez, MS; two sons, James Good and Donaldson “Burn” (Cendee) Thornburg both of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren: Milton, A’Sundynia, KVontay, Jai’len, Mi’Kayla, DeVarus, Mi’Kenzie, and MiKyah; six sisters: Betty (Buddy) Gooden, Virginia (William) Payne, Frances Bates, Betty McDaniel, Shanta (Brian) Butler, and Tammy (Chaka) Herrington; four brothers: Charles (Lea) Good, Larry Good, Cleveland Good, and Clarence O’Quinn; two aunts, Essie Johnson and Lillie V. Good; two uncles Alex and Johnny Fleming; four god-children: Jeremy, Yinterial, Destiny, and Trayzadreon; two stepchildren, Jarvis Gaines and Jackie Gibson; four sisters-in-law: Shirley (Douglas), Hattie Fay (George), Sherone, and LaTanya (Rantrell); two brothers-in-law, Keith (Terri) and Rayford (Marie); mother-in-law, Susie L. Gaines; a best friend, Deborah Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
