NATCHEZ — A mobile COVID-19 testing center will be hosted at the Adams County Safe Room on Tuesday.

Neifa Hardy, Adams County Emergency Management and liaison officer, said the one-day-only testing is free of charge by appointment only for Mississippians who have been screened as being at-risk of infection, have had known or potential exposure to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms.

The site is open from noon until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Adams County Safe Room, 323 Liberty Road, through a partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Mississippians who have been screened as being at-risk of infection will give a specimen sample via a nose swab without exiting their vehicle.

MSDH has expanded its testing guidelines and is now recommending testing for anyone with known or potential exposure to someone with confirmed COVID-19 infection.

Those who feel they should be tested must first answer an online questionnaire found at umc.edu/covidscreening or by calling the UMMC Center for Telehealth at 601-496-7200 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Those meeting the criteria will be given an appointment at the nearest testing site.

At the collection site, providers wearing protective gear will come to the vehicle window to retrieve specimens for testing to be performed at the MSDH Public Health Lab. Those being tested aren’t permitted to leave their vehicle.

UMMC will later notify those tested of the results and give further instructions.
