Delta Charter School celebrates 41 graduates Friday night

FERRIDAY —The Delta Charter School football stands were filled with parents and grandparents Friday night as 41 Delta Charter graduates earned their high school diplomas.
The graduates for Delta Charter dressed in dark blue robes, black facemasks and were seated six-feet apart from each other facing their family members in the crowd.
Amongst the 41 Delta Charter School graduates, eight received gold honor cords, which are for earning grades of A (92.500+) and seven received blue honor cords for B+ (88.500-92.499) grade point average
Claire Hendricks was the salutatorian. Hendricks is the daughter of Ronnie Tapper Hendricks and Mitzi Roby Slatten.
In Hendricks’ salutatorian speech, Hendricks described how 2020 had changed her classmates and their high school career as a whole, but despite all that has happened one thing remains constant.
“This moment does not determine how we will live,” Hendricks spoke. “This life is always changing but there is only one constant which is the love of Jesus Christ. How sweet it is to learn the Savior’s love when nobody else loves us.”
Jordyn Sharp was the valedictorian. Sharp is the daughter of Barry and Kelly Sharp.
In her valedictorian speech, Sharp spoke about missing out on the moments which traditionally defined senior year, such as senior skip day, prom and senior night in sports.
“Everything changed in a single second on March 13,” Sharp spoke. “Everything became uncertain. As everything began to be stripped away from us, our hearts broke. We had all of these perfect plans for us and they were taken away from us in one day.
“I encourage my classmates to see there are great opportunities in the midst of the hands we have been dealt — An opportunity to put into practice important life skills that must only be learned through experience and trial.”
