Trampus Butler, Dante Caldera win Beau Pré Memorial 4-Ball championship flight

NATCHEZ — The team of Trampus Butler and Dante Caldera went into the final round of the 2020 Beau Pré Memorial 4-Ball trailing the championship flight-leading team of Felipe deSolar and Ken Miller by two shots.
With deSolar and Miller struggling on the Beau Pré Country Club golf course Sunday afternoon, Butler and Caldera carried their solid play from Saturday’s first round with a final-round 7-under-par 65 for a two-day score of 13-under-par 131 and a one-shot win over Jordan Farmer and Lee Jones.
“It is easy to play good when you have a good partner,” Butler said. “It was our first tournament playing together and we will play in many more tournaments with each other. We like playing with each other. I have never won this tournament before and it means a lot to me to win this tournament and beat the guys from Natchez.”
An eagle, a score of 2-under-par, won the tournament for Butler and Caldera. Butler shot an eagle on the No. 18 hole on Sunday.
“I was concentrating so much and I had a good feeling about hitting the eagle,” Butler said. “Donté helped me with guiding the ball. We talked about our plan and we executed it. I was lucky the ball went in.”
After shooting a round of 8-under-par 64 on Saturday, deSolar and Miller couldn’t make enough birdies to keep up with the two teams that eventually surpassed them. They ended up with a score of 2-under-par 70 on Sunday for a two-day score of 10-under-par 134. DeSolar and Miller finished in third place.
The team of Randy Goff and Steve Inzenga finished in fourth place in the championship flight after rounds of 67 on Saturday and 68 on Sunday for a two-day total of 135.
In the first flight, two teams show low round scores on Sunday. The team of Dustin Harris and Cade Hebert had a round of 9-under-par 63 to win the first flight with a two-day total of 131. The father-son team of Tom and Tripp Bryant shot 8-under-par 64 on Sunday to finish second in the first flight with a two-day score of 132.
Lloyd Trisler and Bubba Kaiser teamed up to finish third in the first flight with rounds of 68 and 65 to finish at 133. Mark Carter and Stephen Hollingsworth finished fourth in the first flight with back-to-back rounds of 4-under-par 68 for a two-day score of 136.
In all, 10 teams had a round of 68 to share the lead at the end of Saturday’s first round while two other teams shot 3-under-par of 69.
The team of Randy Bailey and Dusty Green shot a round of 5-under-par 67 on Sunday to win the third flight with a two-day score of 139. Michael Faust and George Cupid teamed up to win the fourth flight with rounds of 74 and 72 to finish with a two-day score of 146. The team of Patrick Smith and Brandon Garrity bounced back from a first-round 77 with a final-round score of even-par 72 to win the fifth flight with a two-day total of 149.
Overall, 62 teams participated in the tournament, which was postponed from the first weekend in April to the final weekend in June because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
