NATCHEZ — With the Fourth of July weekend upon us, city law enforcement officials are reminding people that it is illegal to fire a gun within the city limits of Natchez — even as part of Fourth of July celebrations.

Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said he is reminding people who might want to fire their guns in the city limits as part of the Fourth of July weekend celebrations that it is against the city law.

“One, it is extremely dangerous shooting inside the city,” Armstrong said. “Two, it is against the ordinance.”
