NATCHEZ — Ben Davis has won re-election as alderman for the city’s fifth ward by a vote of 39 to 4.
Davis faced independent Tarsha Ambeau. Only 43 voters in the ward cast ballots Tuesday. The city received only 11 absentee ballots, said Natchez City Clerk Megan McKenzie.
Davis was the only candidate in Tuesday’s city election with opposition.
Ward 1 Alderwoman Valencia Hall defeated challenger Larry Hooper in the April primary election. Ward 4 Alderwoman Felicia Bridgewater-Irving defeated challenger Michael Calcote in the primary, and Davis defeated Democratic challenger Jamar White. He went on to face Ambeau in today’s general election.
Second Ward Alderman Billie Jor Frazier, Third Ward Alderwoman Sarah Carter Smith and Sixth Ward Alderman, as well as Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson faced no challenge in the primary or in today’s general election.
