NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Minister John Wesley Logan, Sr., 73, of Jonesville, LA, formerly of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, in Natchez will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Douglas Logan officiating.

Burial will follow at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

John was born May 24, 1951, the son of Roberta Evans Logan and Rev. Walter Logan, Sr. After graduating from high school, he furthered his education at Tarkio College in Missouri, Kennedy-King College, and Alcorn State University. John was retired from International Paper Company. He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Jonesville and held membership with the NAACP.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kenyatta Logan; son, Herbert Tyrone Logan; sisters, Patricia Logan Garner and Renee Logan; brothers, Rev. Walter Logan, Jr. and Walter Lee Mock, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

John leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Flora Johnson Logan; sons, John Wesley Logan, Jr. (Josie) and Zachary Latrell Logan (Quintana); daughter, Erika Logan (Chris); brothers, Rev. Douglas Logan, Sr. (Brenda), Glen Logan (Carolyn) and Melvin V. Logan (Kimmy); sisters, Vivian D. Lewis, Violet Logan, Artimese Frazier, Faye D. Logan and Eva Regina Smith (Jimmy), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
