NATCHEZ — The Colonial Revival-style house at 503 North Pearl Street was built circa 1903 for Mary Mack, an Irish immigrant and widow.
The house had been empty for several years and had begun deteriorating when it was purchased by New Orleans artist Ellen Macomber in 2021. Macomber restored the missing elements of the front porch and rehabilitated the house as a historic tax credit project.
The Foundation provided design advice and completed the historic tax credit application for the project.
These pictures are part of a series of before and after photographs that will run in The Natchez Democrat every Wednesday during 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Historic Natchez Foundation.
