City’s preservation commission meets Wednesday to consider requests from homeowners in historic district

NATCHEZ—When it meets this week, the Natchez Preservation Commission will consider approving changes to the exterior appearance of several buildings in the city’s historic district.
The commission meets at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Council Chambers, 115 S. Pearl St.
The commission’s agenda includes:
• A request by Edward Hudnall to replace the roof at 306 Washington St. with Heritage Manor shingles.
• Laine and Kevin Berry, owners of Hope Farm, 147 Homochitto St., to enclose one bay of a gallery and a glass enclosure of a portion of the rear elevation with a door to a staircase.
• Carter Burns of the Historic Natchez Foundation requests the placement of a bronze marker at 500 N. Broadway in honor of the Krouse family.
• The City of Natchez requests approval to construct a wooden enclosure at 211 Franklin St. for a dumpster.
• R.L. Blanton Construction requests permission to demolish the two-story structure at the back of 902 Washington St.
Also, Planning Director Frankie Legaux is recommending approval of the following projects:
• Brandon Lunsford of FXM Homes LLC for Matt Pearson, 507 Madison, to reroof the structure with like-for-like weathered wood architectural shingles.
• Brandon Lunsford of FXM Homes LLC for Shane Gray, 705 N. Pearl St., to reroof with Pinnacle Stonegate gray architectural shingles.
