According to the National Hurricane Center’s 4 pm Thursday advisory, Tropical Storm Leslie is 1710 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained wind of 70 mph. It’s moving at 8 mph to the northwest.
“A turn toward the north is expected tonight, followed by a turn to the northeast on Friday, with an east-northeastward turn expected over the weekend.” according to meteorologists. “Rapid weakening is forecast to continue during the next day or so, and Leslie is forecast to lose tropical characteristics in a few days.”
There were a lot of changes today: Leslie changed first into a Category 1 hurricane and then into a tropical storm with sustained winds of 70 mph.
YESTERDAY (Wednesday):
Yesterday, Leslie reached new heights of intensity and was upgraded from a Category 1 hurricane into a Category 2 hurricane, with winds blowing at 105 mph.
