NATCHEZ – Funeral services for James Albert Mitchell, 61, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, in Natchez, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Anthony Okwum officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

James was born on Aug. 22, 1963, in Natchez, the son of Mildred Williams Mitchell and Albert David Mitchell. He received his high school diploma and was employed with Wal-Mart in the maintenance department. In his spare time, James enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and riding motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his father, and two sons, Denzel Fort and Jamarius Jackson.

James leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Glenda Y. Mitchell; mother, Mildred L. Mitchell; step-sons, James Lucas, Jamarhi Lucas, and Jerry Turner; step-daughter, Tiera Turner; sisters, Patricia A. Washington (Percy) and Carol Barkley; nieces, Jackye Perry, Michelle Ruhland, and Leah Barkley-Ysaguirre; and a host of other relatives and friends.
