Chances of snow next week continue to be possible with the greatest travel impacts beginning by daybreak Tuesday and continuing through much of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast for Natchez shows a 30 percent chance of snow showers Monday night. That increases to a 50 percent chance Tuesday morning with a forecasted high temperature of 33 degrees.
Snow and sleet accumulation may cover roads and cause hazardous driving conditions, NWS reports.
Furthermore, large branches may fall and cause power outages.
A long duration of cold temperatures below freezing are expected Sunday night through Wednesday, with wind chills as low as 5 to 10 degrees. This may threaten exposed pipes and increase the chances of hypothermia and frostbite with prolonged exposure. Steps should be taken now to protect utilities and vulnerable plants.
