I recently had to go to the sheriff’s department to get a copy of a report. A few years ago, a ramp was built to make the building handicap-accessible.

Imagine how frustrating it was to see every parking spot reserved for law enforcement. Not only was every spot reserved for law enforcement, but every spot was also empty. After driving around the block about four times looking for somewhere to park, I pulled in a reserved law enforcement spot and put my handicap placard on my mirror.

In the back of the sheriff’s department, a parking lot for law enforcement vehicles was almost empty.

I am requesting that whoever oversees marking parking spots downtown be courteous enough, or rather, legal enough, to mark at least two spots for handicapped parking. I sent a request to the Board of Supervisors but have yet to hear from anyone about my request.
