NATCHEZ — The Krewe of Phoenix resurrected one of its former traditions on Saturday when it held the Children’s Walking Parade on the Natchez Bluff in celebration of Mardi Gras.
Caymond Riley, a ninth grader at Vidalia High School, led the parade with jazz music. Approximately 50 children dressed for Mardi Gras, many in decorated wagons, walked with the parents and grandparents to the Bandstand on the Bluff.
Mardi Gras is Tuesday, March 4, followed by Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten Season.
