VIDALIA, La. — At tonight’s meeting of the Concordia Parish School Board, board members plan to discuss several projects, including a right-of-way proposal for the ongoing  $5.5 million Ferriday High School renovation project, and hear presentations regarding Superintendent Toyua Bachus’ performance evaluation and the four-day work weeks.

The meeting takes place at 6 p.m. in the Concordia Parish Media Center, 508 John Dale Drive, Suite B.

The four-day work weeks were a calendar change implemented this school year where schools are closed on most Mondays. Presentations will also acknowledge school board members for training hours, Makalai Polk for and outstanding LEAP score and recipients of Sidney A. Murray Jr. Citizenship Awards in grades 3 through 5.

Other projects on the agenda include the maintenance of the Ferriday and Vidalia football fields, which were both refurbished within the last year and a gas leak at Ferriday Junior High School.

In other matters, the board will consider approving minutes of the regular meeting on Jan. 9, invoices and financial reports for the month of January, and a personnel report.

The school board will also discuss disposing of non-working vehicles and consider policies for approval.

For announcements, Bachus will discuss the Louisiana School Boards Association annual convention on Feb. 25 through 27 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and the Concordia Parish Academy enrollment lottery at 9 a.m. on March 12.

An executive session is planned to discuss strategy and/or action as necessary regarding litigation entitled Smith, et. al. v. Concordia Parish School Board, et. al., Civil Action No. 65-11577 on the docket of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

This matter deals with a federal desegregation order against the school district, for which the school board has enlisted the help of Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill for representation.

Executive sessions are not open to the public or to the media.
