OXFORD, MS – Services for Hall Watkins Wilson Jr., 87, of Oxford, MS, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, with Rev. Warren Black and Rev. Chris McAlilly officiating at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford, 601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, MS, 38655. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford, 601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, MS, 38655. Ashes will be placed at his grave sites in Oxford Memorial Cemetery and the Natchez City Cemetery.
Hall (Sonny) Wilson, formerly of Natchez died on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hall W. Wilson Sr. and Annie Louise Bost Wilson; his former wives, Annette McCluer Wilson (25 years) and Sonia Priester Wilson (27 years); two sisters, Anne Louise Wilson Valentine, and Margaret Wilson O’Ferrall; brothers-in-law, Robert Baker Valentine and Laurence C. O’Ferrall; and nephew, Gary Robert Valentine.
A 1955 graduate of Natchez High School, he also attended Co-Lin Junior College, and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.
Formerly a member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church in Natchez, he attended Oxford University United Methodist Church with his beloved wife, Celia. He rekindled a friendship with Celia when they both attended their Natchez High School reunion in 2014 and were happily married in 2015, making Oxford their home.
In Natchez before his retirement, he was a Realtor and Real Estate Appraiser, and served on the Natchez Board of Aldermen for 23 years, serving part of that time as Mayor Pro-tempore and chairman of the Natchez Police Committee.
He enjoyed being a Rotarian both in Natchez and Oxford for a total of 52 years.
He is survived by wife Celia Francis Wilson of Oxford, MS; daughters, Cynthia Gould and husband, Spencer of Thousand Oaks, CA and Amanda Wilson of Clinton, MS; granddaughter, Anne Wilder Gould of Birmingham, AL; grandson, Adrian Wilson Gould and wife, Heather; great-grandson, Miles Gillis Gould of Petaluma, CA; three nieces, Louise O’Ferrall Card, Roanne Valentine Tipton, and Jill Merk; nephews, Laurence (Larry) O’Ferrall, Jr. and Steve Butler; great-nephews and niece, Allen, Russell, Conner Tipton, Michael Laurence Metz, Sam and Zach Butler, Jackson and Anna Merkl.
