NATCHEZ – Mrs. Catherine, 101, a native and resident of Natchez, MS died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at Merit Health of Natchez, MS. Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Clifton Marvel presiding. Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Rose Hill from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., service will begin at 11 a.m.

Catherine graduated from Brumfield High School in 1948. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Alcorn in 1960 and a Master of Education from Jackson State in 1976. She taught in the Jefferson County School System for 32 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Elmira Titus; husband, Alvin Thomas Jr.; sons, Johnny, Leonard, and Gregory Thomas; sisters, Ethel Walters, Hilda Marshall, and Gladys Morris, and two brothers, Philip and Wilson Titus.

Catherine is survived by two sons, Alvin Thomas III (Patricia) of Baton Rouge, LA, and William Thomas of Natchez; sisters, Mary Titus and Thelma Bevel of Chicago, IL; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
