NATCHEZ – Sharon, “Sherry” to her family, of Roxie, MS passed away at, 58, surrounded by family in Natchez. She battled cancer for over a year before the horrible disease spread and ravaged her body.
Sharon was born to the late Thomas E. McCoy, Jr. and Carolyn Pullen McCoy on Oct. 23, 1966. She graduated from South Natchez Adams High School Class of 1984. After a brief move to Florida, Sharon returned to Natchez to raise her children in her hometown. Her final years were spent sharing life and making memories with her daughter and grandson.
Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband, James Russell Watts; her second husband, Marvin “Mark” McCraney, Jr., and her beloved son, James Joshua Watts.
Sharon is survived by a daughter, Amanda “Mandy” Watts Hayles, and a grandson, Hayden Joshua King. She also leaves a sister, Beth McCoy Box (Gary), and a brother, Thomas E. McCoy, III. She also leaves three nieces, Krista Box Hemphill (John), Mandalynn McCoy, and Carolyn McCoy, and two nephews, Logan Box and Thomas McCoy IV. Along with her cousins, she leaves Susan Reeves Hinson, whom she considered another sister.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 3 p.m., led by pastor Phillip Watts, at Redemption Church in Natchez. Family visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the service time, followed by a graveside service at the Taylor Family Cemetery on Palestine Road.
