NATCHEZ – Funeral services for James “Fox” Carter, 76, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Monday, March 3, 2025, in Natchez will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
“Fox” was born on April 9, 1948, in Natchez, the son of Martha Carter and Walter Butler. He was a graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and was a retired Master Carpenter. Mr. Carter was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Lizzie Galmore, James Carter, Laura Butler and Wash Butler, and grandson, Darren Myles.
James leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Melvin Myles (Maria) and Cordell Myles; daughter, Sharonica Myles; brothers, William Carter (Margaret), George Carter (Granetta), Regimen Carter, Walter Thompson, Otis Dent (Rosie), Wash Edward Butler (Deloris) and Kenneth Butler (Lucretia); sisters, Edna Carter, Lillian Roberts, Carmen Carter, Cassandra Johnson, JoAnn Savage (Lawrence), Arbrodella Letcher, Juanita Smith, Aletha Luss (Ronald) and Penny Scott; grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
