MADISON COUNTY — A man accused of kidnapping and murder in the death of a Natchez woman was denied bond on Wednesday in Madison County Justice Court.

Joshua Andrews, 29, is accused of kidnapping Glynnis “Nook” Jackson from her job at the Canton Nissan plant on Jan. 27 and shooting her before she fell out of his moving vehicle on I-55 in Jackson. Jackson died from her injuries. The coroner said Jackson had been shot at least twice before falling from the car. The coroner also said she was pregnant.

Jackson’s family plans a memorial service for her on Saturday at 1 p.m. She was the mother of three young children.

Madison County Justice Court Judge Bruce McKinley denied bond for Andrews, who is charged with capital murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. An investigator testified on Wednesday that surveillance video shows Andrews grabbing Jackson by the neck from behind in the Nissan employee parking lot and holding a gun to her head. Jackson, 31, was forced into the driver’s side of a car. A motorist who was driving behind the car on northbound I-55 said the driver’s side door flew open and Jackson fell onto the roadway.

“Quite obviously, we believe (he) caused the death of a young woman and their unborn child, which shows disregard for the safety of others, and just the way the events transpired there was no regard for other motorists on the road and this could have been much, much worse,” said Madison County Prosecutor Pamela Hancock.

Andrews allegedly stole his sister’s car in Georgia, which she reported missing to police, to commit the crime in Canton.

Andrews also served time in the Mississippi Department of Corrections for shooting into a moving vehicle and aggravated assault. He was released in August 2022.
