NATCHEZ — An inmate who escaped from the Adams County Jail early Friday morning and stole an unmarked Adams County Sheriff’s Office vehicle to flee into the Morgantown area is now back in custody.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said that Myco Fort, 22, was spotted walking in the area of Northgate Road off of Morgantown Road where deputies found and detained him at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday.
“He is back in custody now and I want to thank all of the citizens who helped us find him,” Patten said.
At 3:30 a.m., Fort, who was a trusty, was brought to the downstairs of the jail to mop before a shift change when he took the keys to an unmarked ACSO vehicle from a lock box and ran out of the back door.
The vehicle was later spotted wrecked near Huber’s Construction Co., where Fort fled on foot.
Fort was a resident of Broadmoor Drive in Adams County and had initially been arrested on Feb. 24 on a burglary charge.
