NATCHEZ — There’s more for visitors to do during Spring Pilgrimage than tour houses.
The Pilgrimage Garden Club, which redesigned its Spring Pilgrimage dates and experience this year, is hosting a number of events that allow locals and visitors to Natchez to get to know each other and share the city’s unique culture.
Part-time Natchez resident Wes Pack and long-time PGC member Elodie Pritchartt are leading the first PGC Golf Scramble, set for March 29 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Natchez Golf Club at Duncan Park.
“We have a fantastic municipal golf course here,” Pack said. “This golf scramble creates an opportunity for everyone — couples, a group of people coming into Natchez — to play golf, have some fun and get to know each other.”
Teams of two will play 18 holes with several hole challenges. Awards will be given to first, second and third place winners. Food, snacks and drinks are included. Cost per player is $100. Other sponsorship opportunities are available.
Coca-Cola United of McComb is the event’s major sponsor. Three other companies have signed up for the hole challenges, which Pack said will offer something unique, which is being kept secret for now.
“We still need a sponsor for the fourth hole challenge,” he said. “The challenges will be closest to the pin, a hole in one, longest drive and a secret challenge at hole number 6. Let’s just say, if you’re good at archery, the winner could be you!”
The PGC Scramble will be one of the first tournaments of the Spring in Natchez.
“We are looking forward to doing this every year during Spring Pilgrimage,” Pack said.
