FERRIDAY – Funeral services for Effie Mae Washington, 73, of Ferriday, LA will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. from the St. Thomas Baptist Church in Levee Heights, Ferriday, under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery in Vidalia. Pastor Jacobs will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Washington, daughter of Edward and Illinois Litt Neal, was born in Vidalia and died at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. She was formerly employed at Kelly Kids and of the Baptist faith.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Michael Washington of Kellen, TX; Robert Washington (Shelia)  and Louis Washington, Jr. all of Waterproof, LA; David Gillis (Melissa) of Monroe, LA; Marcus Washington (Lolita) of Houston, TX; LaKesha Brown, Stephanie Neal, and Edna Neal all of Ferriday; Donna Washington of Memphis, TN; three sisters, Lola Cook of Reserve, LA; Lucy Mitchell of New Orleans and Carolia Neal of Ferriday; fourteen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her many friends at the Concordia Council on Aging Ferriday Senior Center.

Preceding her in death are her parents, and her husband, Louis Washington, Sr.
