Preservation commission being asked to demolish one structure, alter six others at meeting Wednesday evening

NATCHEZ—The city’s planning commission will be asked for permission to demolish the structure at 808 Myrtle Ave. and alter six other properties in the city’s historic district.

The preservation commission meets Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 115 S. Pearl St.

Its agenda includes:

• A request by Judy Mize at 405 N. Commerce St. to build a carport over an existing driveway.

• A request by Waycaster-Dungan Architects and Engineers to alter the exterior of 909 Washington St. to remove existing screens and replace them with railings.

• A request by Jerry Krouse to demolish the structure at 808 Myrtle Ave.

• A request by Jacqueline Stahlman to alter the exterior of 301 Clifton Ave.. by enclosing an existing porch with a screen and removing the awning.

• A request by JoAnne Harris, 307 Oak St., to install an iron fence with a gate on the property’s east side (Myrtle Street).

• A request by Morris Myers and Suzanne Lingold to alter the exterior of 708 N. Pearl St. by installing gutters and downspouts, installing a private fence, and repairing a picket fence.

In unfinished business, the commission will consider Waycaster-Dungan’s request to replace a standing seam roof and construct a storage building, deck, and outdoor fireplace at 207 S. Union St.
