NATCHEZ — Parker Roach had himself quite the game for Adams County Christian School as he had three base hits, including two home runs, as well as six runs batted in to lead the Rebels to a 13-0 win over the Centreville Academy Tigers in four innings last Tuesday afternoon.
ACCS’s schedule that came out before the season started had the Rebels hosting Centreville Academy on Tuesday for a varsity doubleheader. However, that turned out to be a scheduling error and there was just one varsity game played.
The Rebels jumped on Tigers starting pitcher Landon Bigner early and often. So much so that he did not make it out of the first inning. Roach got things for ACCS in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run to left field.
Caden Aplin singled in a run and Jackson Anderson was hit by a pitch, bringing in another run for a 4-0 lead. Later on in the bottom of the first, Hart Smith singled to plate two more runs. The Rebels ended up batting around and the onslaught continued as Ethan Givens singled in one run and Roach, in his second at-bat of the frame, singled on a run for an 8-0 lead.
Bigner lasted just one-third of an inning and gave up eight runs on seven hits and one walk with no strikeouts.
Givens added to ACCS’s lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning. Roach was at it again, this time in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a three-run home run that made it a 13-0 game.
Anderson retired the side in the bottom of the fourth as the Rebels ended up run-ruling the Tigers. Anderson went all four innings and gave up two hits, singles by Kayde Redmond and Ty Kinabrew, struck out five, and walked just one to earn the win on the mound and the defense behind him did not commit a single error.
As a team, ACCS finished with 12 total base hits. Givens led the way by going 4-for-4 while Roach was 3-for-3 and Smith was 2-for-3.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 7-2 overall. They play host to Silliman Institute on Friday with the junior varsity game at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
