NATCHEZ – With heavy hearts, Ted and I share the passing of Ted’s mother, Millie Mason. Millie lived with us in Virginia and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Please keep our family in your prayers during this difficult time.
Mildred “Millie” Jean Kyzar Mason, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 5, 2025, in Leesburg, VA. Born in Brookhaven, MS, Millie’s life was marked by resilience, love, and an unshakable spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Ted” Mason Jr.; her children, Theresa Pandora Ivie and Regan Adonis Mason; her daughter-in-law, Jane Mason; and her grandson, Pierce Adonis Mason. Despite loss, she remained a pillar of strength.
Millie is survived by her son, Albert Theodore “Ted” Mason III (Tricia); grandchildren, Angelique Mackey (Carl), Amber Davis (Michael), Nicole Thigpen (Tazz), Russell Ivie (Ashlyn), Amanda Ivie, Brooke Mason, and Michelle Mason; as well as great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A fashion industry professional, she managed La Boutique in Biloxi before transitioning to accounting at the Grand Casino. She later owned Daffy’s on the River in Gulfport for over 30 years, fostering lifelong friendships. In her later years, she found joy in Virginia with her family.
Millie will be remembered for her sharp wit, independence, and deep love for those around her.
A celebration of life was held at Laird Funeral Home, Natchez, on March 15 at 1 p.m., followed by burial at Historic Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
